Jimmy Star Rants and Raves - The Fashion and Entertainment Industries Now - Beyond Elite Magazine - 24103

The state of the entertainment and fashion industry right NOW is absolutely boring and inhibited. Totally in the doldrums, without a distinct identity. I think that a lot of this lack of creativity has to do with the state of the world as it is now. There is a lot of pressure to conform, and people are afraid to live in the moment for themselves, and try to change to fit the mold of the times because they are being held back by these political and religious pressures. There are very few pioneers in the world today, and this fact has really paid a huge role in the lack of creative music, fashion and entertainment in the world today.
Let me start out by saying that conforming to the will of the masses is a huge mistake. If they do not appreciate your talents the way that you want to showcase them, FUCK THEM!!! American Idol this season is a perfect example. Most of the contestants change their identity every week, based on the judges’ critiques, and these changes get worse every week. There is definitely no Adam Lambert, and the talent pool is weak at best. All the really unique entertainers are not put through as they cannot be molded into who American Idol wants them to be. There may never be another contestant like Adam Lambert until the world view comes out of the woodwork, and who knows when that will be as we live in a world where no one takes responsibility for their actions, and no one pays attention to the facts, so nothing can be or is ever resolved.
Another one of my favorite shows to watch is Project Runway. The days of Santino and Cristian are definitely gone… it could not be any more boring, from the contestants to the judges. Michael Kors is a total bore, considered by the uneducated to be an American super-designer, who manufactures the most boring clothing in the universe. His line does well because the state of the world is understated and does not stand out, but his clothes are nothing special to see, and as a judge his opinion should only be agreeable to Gap customers who cannot dress anyway. Nina Garcia is the same, and most of the guest judges suck too. There are no great designers, and no one with any personality to lift the show up to an entertainment standard. Really sad.
On more of a highlight, watch the show GLEE. A mixture of broadway, music and comedy, this show is awesome… the music is fabulous, the characters entertaining, and the story line fun to watch. Hopefully winning an Emmy will keep this show going, as it is critically acclaimed, but does not have a huge viewership. It is probably the most entertaining show on television right now, totally breaking all the molds of what is the correct way to make a sitcom.
Along with Glee, there is Lady GAGA… love her or hate her, she is the Madonna of the time, and way fun to listen to and watch. She has made being herself a way to entertain the masses on her own terms. She did not change to fit the conventional mold, and she is a huge hit, and never dismisses the people who helped her become famous. A great singer and entertainer, Lady Gaga is taking the world by storm in the fashion that all icons that create themselves do, leaving me excited to see what is coming next.
All in all, it is time for the doldrums to take a back seat and for the creative entities of the world to come out strong and say NOW is the time to leave boring behind and bring back entertainment that is really entertaining.
